Shopify is currently displaying the following message incorrectly after they extended a deadline related to an API version update. (See email below sent to Partners that integrate with Themes)

This will NOT impact your store and everything will work as it has. We anticipate this messaging will be corrected in the next few days.

To our valued Developers,

On April 1st, 2023, we informed you that the Shopify Asset API create/update and delete access was moved under Shopify-approval scope and that the latest version of the Asset API would no longer be accessible.

We have decided to extend the original deadline of December 31st, 2023 to March 31st, 2024 to transition your app to Theme App Extensions. To avoid any breaking changes for your app, and the merchants that depend on it, please transition to Theme App Extensions before March 31st, 2024 (here's how: Theme App Extensions Dev Docs). We thank the many developers who have already made the appropriate update.

Why Are We Making This Change?
The Asset API was originally introduced to support uploading and managing themes, but over time merchants have experienced a number of issues, including slower and bloated Storefront speeds as a result of dead code when uninstalling apps.

Theme App Extensions (see blog) is Shopify’s path for apps to safely and seamlessly integrate with Online Store themes. We understand that this may require you to update your current app or integration. To make this easy for you, we’ve prepared the following documentation, and our product team is available on Slack to assist you with any questions.

Keep in mind, you have until March 31st, 2024 to transition to Theme App Extensions. If you believe you need an extension or exemption, here's where you can learn more about exemption criteria and how to apply.

Thank you for your continued support.
